SCOTT LESTER JOINS THE TEAM AT RWY
Scott Lester is a qualified instructor in the Kung Fu system of Southern Chow Gar Praying Mantis. About a year into his initial martial arts training he was involved in a car accident, his Kung Fu instructor used Chinese Massage to repair the injuries that he sustained from the accident. Impressed with these techniques he asked to learn and spent the following 16 years educating himself as much as he could and treating family and friends with injuries or muscular aches and pains, often being told that he has “healing hands.”
Around 17 years into his Kung Fu training, he opened a club at the local university teaching self-defence. Working with Police, Social workers, Prison Staff and University students, he developed a syllabus of simple and effective techniques. Some of his students have included domestic violence victims, who since learning these techniques have gained confidence to exit their relationship with the perpetrator.
Until recently he worked in the criminal justice arena; in the community and prisons, developing and delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Recovery programmes.
Scott learned a lot about life and got to know himself a lot better.
Scott had been considering a change in career direction for some time, when a chance conversation with his hair stylist at Envy, led to a meeting with the ENVY hair salon owner Tracie Gunningham. This meeting led to the opportunity to work as a sports and luxury massage therapist within the Royal William Yard location.
Scott made the decision to take a leap of faith into self-employment and has no regrets.
Scott says that 'I am passionate about recovery and love my job'.
Scott is qualified in Swedish Full body massage and is about to qualify with a Level 3 in Sports Therapy. In the new year Scott is embarking upon a Level 5 qualification.
Scott said 'I take pride in my role as a professional massage therapist and enjoy maintaining ongoing professional development and look forward to a career as a soft tissue massage therapist.'
